Language: Find the right words

Build words, explore meanings and make connections in language.

What language practice looks like

Language games work with words: untangling them, matching meanings, finding opposites, spotting typos and cracking hidden words. Rounds are short and each one shows you the word in full afterwards.

In Wits this skill is called Language. In the iPhone app, lessons cover things like roots, prefixes and commonly confused words before you put them to use.

You’ll practice

  • Spelling. Knowing how a word is written, letter by letter.
  • Vocabulary. Knowing many words and what they mean.
  • Pattern spotting. Seeing a familiar shape inside a jumble.
  • Flexible thinking. Looking at the same thing in more than one way.
  • Working memory. Holding a few pieces in mind while you arrange them.

Play Word Code on the web

Guess the hidden word. Green is the right letter in the right spot; gold is in the word but in another spot.

Watch a round, then play it for real on the web with a free Wits account, or in the iPhone app beside the other 8 language games.
