Memory: Make it stick

Study sequences and locations, then bring them back to mind.

What memory practice looks like

Memory games show you something briefly and ask for it back: a pattern of lights, a set of cards, a number, a shopping list or a path across the ice.

Each level asks you to hold a little more. In the iPhone app, lessons explain simple techniques, like chunking and the story method, that you can try in the next round.

You’ll practice

  • Spatial memory. Holding where things were in your mind.
  • Visual memory. Remembering what you have seen.
  • Sequencing. Keeping things in the order they came.
  • Working memory. Holding information and reworking it, like running it backwards.
